Secretive deal isn’t about trade, but corporate control
Interview with Julian Assange on the TPP
As negotiations continue, WikiLeaks has published four leaked chapters of the secretly negotiated Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and is trying to get hold of the remaining chapters – a global trade deal between the United States and eleven other countries. The TPP is the largest economic treaty ever negotiated, and substantially bigger than NAFTA. If implemented, it would cover 40% of the global economy, but the details have been concealed from the public. A huge debate is currently taking place within the U.S. about it, and some of that debate is a direct consequence of what WikiLeaks has revealed. In a very recent video, which is accessible on the website Dissident Voice the north american journalist Amy Goodman interviewed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on the treaty.
