An economist who confused climate with weather

Kasper Benjamin Reimer Bj0rkskov

Did you know the IPCC’s climate economics models are basically built on the work of William Nordhaus — an economist who confused climate with weather?

Yes. This economist literally assumed that 90% of the economy is safe from climate change because it happens “indoors.”

Dr. Steve Keen tore this nonsense apart in his article The Appallingly Bad Neoclassical Economics of Climate Change. Here is a link to this article:

Spoiler: The work of William Nordhaus is not just bad economics — it’s catastrophic gaslighting.

Scientists: “4°C warming could collapse civilization.”

Nordhaus: “Relax, it’ll only shave 2% off GDP. Your iPhone will still ship.” This is what happens when neoliberal economists run the numbers: they mistake storms for rain showers, tipping points for inconveniences, and planetary collapse for a rounding error. Next time you hear “the costs of climate action are too high,” remember: the spreadsheet telling them that was written by William Nordhaus — the guy who thought global heating equals Florida weather everywhere.

Economists can keep their models. We prefer a habitable planet, thanks.
